GNS Healthcare Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer Iya Khalil Named to INC Magazine’s List of Top Female Founders for 2018

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.– October 5, 2018 – Each October, INC Magazine chooses leading women pioneers, entrepreneurs and innovators to profile in its annual Women Entrepreneurs issue. In their 2018 issue, GNS Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer Iya Khalil, PhD was profiled as one the Female Founders 100 who are building the most exciting businesses in America and whose “smarts are rattling industries far and wide.”

Dr. Iya Khalil is a technology entrepreneur and physicist with a vision of transforming medicine and healthcare into a discipline that is quantitative, predictive, and patient-centric via big data, AI and machine learning. She cofounded two AI and machine learning companies, Gene Network Sciences Inc. and GNS Healthcare, and is the co-inventor of the proprietary machine learning and AI software platform that underpins both entities.

Dr. Khalil’s AI and machine learning expertise spans 18 years with applications in drug discovery and development, clinical trial optimization, pharmaceutical commercialization and real-world evidence, as well as treatment algorithms that can be applied at the point of care.

“I am honored to be part of such an impressive group of women who are making a true impact across various industries. I think it’s critically important that media outlets make the effort to recognize and applaud smart, driven women who are founding and leading amazing companies – I am grateful that INC Magazine does this every year,” said Khalil.

She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences including Exponential Medicine, Milken Global Conference, Health 2.0, SXSW, Bio, and TEDX and was recently profiled in Forbes Magazine as one of the women making artificial intelligence more accessible and less scary. Dr. Khalil has published extensively in AI and machine learning for healthcare, including peer-reviewed journal articles and poster presentations at scientific conferences such as ASCO, AACR, ASH, ISPOR and EASL. She was recognized by President Obama in 2014 as a leading entrepreneur in genomic medicine and was appointed to the Massachusetts Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) Oversight Council by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker.

Dr. Khalil is passionate about supporting woman entrepreneurs and is a member of Springboard Enterprises, the largest network of innovators, investors and influencers dedicated to building high-growth women lead technology companies. She recently co-founded Female Equity, a non-profit that enables female founders access to venture funding by creating, expanding and leveraging a growing network of female venture investors.

Dr. Khalil received her PhD and MS in Physics from Cornell University.
