April 18, 2018—Today, Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) and GNS Healthcare will present a poster at the 2018 American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting. The poster reports the causal machine learning and simulation approach that will be used by Swedish Cancer Institute and GNS Healthcare to build cancer disease models in an unbiased manner.

In the era of personalized medicine, a major challenge is harnessing longitudinal data across the cancer care continuum, which includes complex multi-modal data sets of biological, molecular, and clinical information about patients and their tumors. There is a growing need for new computing analytics, such as machine learning – an important tool in healthcare bioinformatics.

GNS’s causal models and simulations can elevate the providers’ abilities to:

  • Better understand treatment responses based on patients unique clinical data and mutational statuses;
  • Study different treatment options to optimize management; and
  • Understand the complex interactions among variables that lead to a range of treatment outcomes.
